The Malts At StammBar
I love a dram of single malt whisky in fact it’s a passion of mine and one I want to share with my guests. Please don’t be confused by the myriad of whiskies out there because this is single malt whisky and I am always happy to take those guests ready to embrace the delights of a “real” drink on a journey through Scotland’s waters of life (“uisge beatha“). To help us travel along this delicious journey I have selected 26 malts, but no one is expecting you to consume this in one trip. This journey can be enjoyed with numerous taste-seeing trips, 6 malts organized for you into a malt sampler. Our journey starts with 25 malts, but certainly will not end here….new and interesting journeys can always be found amongst those that we know and I will also be discovering new tastes to add to our journey across Scotland.

Whisky Samplers
– The Classic Malts of Scotland, a selection of 6 malts selected and marketed back in 1988. – The Islay Malts, it might only be a wee west coast island but it’s home to some of the most unique malt whiskies ever produced. – The Island Malts refer to whiskies of islands other than Islay. – The Speyside Malts, the region with the most distillaries. – The Scottish Regions Malts, a taste of what Alba has to offer: Highlands, Speyside, Islands, Islay, Lowlands & Campbeltown. – Mr. Jackson’s 90+ Malts (see below for more details) – Robin’s Choice, these are my favourites, perhaps you’ll agree with me. Mr. Jackson: For those of you who only know the other Michael Jackson, this Michael Jackson (27 March 1942 – 30 August 2007) was the author of Michael Jackson’s Malt Whisky Companion and is the best-selling book on this subject. He was one of the world’s most renowned reviewers of whiskies and gave them marks between 0 – 100. In Mr. Jackson’s 90+ whisky sampler you have the unique opportunity of sampling 6 malt whiskies he rated with scores of 90 and over.
